Rod Stewart Comes Rollin’ and Tumblin’ to Mohegan Sun in 2024 Concert

On September 7, 2024 Rod Stewart once again rocked the Mohegan Sun Arena with his high energy well-tuned show. He and his band really know how to give a show and keep the audience engaged start to finish. This One Last Time Tour was no exception.

He is proud of all the musicians and singers who perform with him. He acknowledges his back up performers every chance he gets for good reason. The band and dancers and singers he shares the stage with are at the top of their game and give the audience a memorable night. He has assembled a fantastic group and they have been together performing for quite some time. They each play instruments while singing and dancing. Each member gives their all to back up Stewart without trying to outshine him, as if that would be a problem.

There are a few costume changes for the group during the night which are seamlessly done. It’s a slight of hand they have perfected. There was only one exception this evening. Stewart exited stage to change shirts and, in his hurry, to get back onstage did not button up. Well, I am not sure if this was intentional or by accident but his audience did appreciate the glance before he buttoned up mid song. All in good humor though as he and the band laughed it off.

Stewart is a livewire and is nonstop from one side of the stage to the other from the first note to the last of each concert except when he sits or steps back and lets a band member shine. Stewart’s backup singers, dancers and musicians can each more than hold their own. They can play a violin, harp, mandolin and various other instruments all while doing a well-choreographed show and keeping up with Stewart. It’s a combination of well-known songs and a lesser expected one thrown into the mix which always makes it fun to attend a Rod Steward concert.

Stewart finished off the show with the encore of the ever popular “Do You Think I’m Sexy?” Yes, Rod we do. Even at the age of 79 this man gives his all at every performance and the crowd just adores it. He cavorts around the stage like a 30 something and has not lost any of his appeal. The audience was up on their feet dancing along with him as he gave them the one last tune.

This is a concert I could see over and over again. I have seen Rod Stewart a few times and his shows are always fun, active and he doesn’t take himself too seriously as he sings and interacts with his band and the audience. He is like a magnet and wants to draw you in to come back for another concert next time he is in town. That is his staying power and it’s worked for decades and doesn’t show signs of stopping even though it’s named the “One Last Time Tour.”

Stewart and his band never dissapoint and though we all know the songs by heart to hear him perform them live is a treat each and every time. If by chance you have never seen a Rod Stewart concert do go and take it all in, you will have a fun and lively evening guaranteed.
