From June 27th through June 29th Mystic Seaport once again hosted the annual WoodenBoat Show. The yearly event is one of the must do events for wood boat lovers, and fans of all things nautical and wood. There is a sprawling weekend of beautiful, some very rare, and all wood vessels.
This year’s event started with just a smidge of rain on Friday morning but the weather cleared up early and the show had wonderful weather with sunshine and just the right temperatures to make a fun weekend of enjoying all Mystic Seaport has to offer.
Visitors could stroll along the docks and take in the eye catching beautiful boat docked along the waterfront for the event. Many rare boats arrive each year and you just never know what special treat of a WoodenBoat you may find each given year.
This year there were many to choose from but one of our favorite boats this year was the 100 year old “Chicane.” Part of the Stirling Harbor Foundation. A beautifully restored 56’sloop by the legendary Scottish yacht designer Alfred Mylne. Her exterior gleaming and her interior testament to the beauty of understated, purpose build wooden craftsmanship that is a wooden boat that will never go out of style. She is 100 and beautifully maintained. She gleamed from stem to stern in the morning sun.
