The Mohegan Sun Wolf Den was decorated for a Holiday celebration and ANA Popovic and her band were just what the place needed to get everyone ready to celebrate. They gave the audience an hour and a half of all out fantastic music.
She played some blues and some a little funky. Her and the band gave the crowd a variety of songs. She made sure as always to give a little time for a solo by each band member and acknowledge their talent.
Ana Popovic celebrates over 20 years on the road. The Serbian blues artist from Belgrade went from a career as a graphic designer to a world touring musician. This concert was one of the final three of this tour. It’s been a busy year for ANA and the band and they were looking forward to a little time off for the holidays before resuming touring next year.
Popovic’s band includes the brass section of Evan Knight on Saxophone and Jordon Carr on trumpet, plus Buthel Burns on and bass and drummer Jerry Kelly.
ANA always willing to work a little harder and travel to her fans. She has made twelve albums and two DVDs. Popovic has been nominated for seven Blues Music Awards nominations. Her albums ‘Can You Stand The Heat’ and ‘Unconditional’ were USA Today Picks-Of-The-Week and featured on NPR Weekend Edition. Almost all of Ana’s albums reached the top of the Billboard Blues Charts.
Once again ANA Popovic outdid herself and she and the band put on a great performance. If you get the chance to see her live don’t miss it.
