50 shows in 50 states in 49 days.
Devon Allman and Donavon Frankenreiter made the United Theater in Westerly, Rhode Island their 4th stop on the marathon record breaking 50 states in 49 days “See It All” tour. The ambitious project got off to a great start as they kicked it in Annapolis, Maryland and then headed north to cover the New England area.
We caught up to them at the United Theater in Westerly, Rhode Island on their 4th night of the marathon event. They were pumped up and ready to take on the challenge and the crowd helped with enthusiasm and plenty of dancing and cheering. The venue had festival seating on the floor and seats for those who preferred them on the balcony. Many chose the lower level where they could move about freely and dance at will.
This is an actual world record breaking attempt, and the band is eager to set it. They have invited a few others to join in fun by inviting Jackson Stokes and Matt Andersen as openers. Stokes and Andersen also joined Allman and Frankenreiter playing a few songs alongside them as the evening progressed.
To even attempt this feat is an ambitious undertaking and we commend them for going for it. We will be following the tour and will update when they smash the record and go in the books as the hardiest band ever. They are already extremely talented and come from lines of immense talent. This will just be another first for Allman and Frankenreiter. We wish them all the success in the world as they set this world record.
The pair also celebrated the release of their newly released EP “Rollers” which came out last month at The United. It’s a six song mix of electric and acoustic material, many of these were included in the Westerly concert at The United. From the most pop sounding “We Belong” to the more bluesy “Where Ya Gonna Run To?.” All six were composed for this adventure and the different feelings and sounds they will experience as they cross through 50 different states and the style of music each state evokes.
During the course of the 49 days some of the special guest players will change in different venues but Devon Allman and Donavon Frankenreiter will remain a constant throughout the tour to break the record.
I can’t tell how impressed I was with Stokes and Andersen. Jackson Stokes performed at another Allman tour I attended, so I was aware of his talent, he is a fantastic musician and singer.
Now onto Matt Andersen who I heard for the first time at this concert. Andersen just blew me away with his talent and the amount of emotion he puts into each of his songs and the range of his voice. He was so at ease with the audience and enjoyed his time on the stage. I am surprised he is not getting more recognition for his talent. If you get a chance to see either of these talented artists don’t hesitate or you will miss a great night of music.
We wish the band well and are optimistic they will put this tour in the record books for posterity. Grab a ticket at an area near you and support this ambitious effort. I mean how many times have you heard of a band attempting this and don’t you want to be a part of history?
