The Misselwood Concours d’Elegance 2021 was held in Beverly MA this past weekend with a dazzling display of classic automobiles and motorcycles. The weather was a bit drizzly but that didn’t stop the show with the Atlantic ocean as a backdrop.
The 1914 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost by Steven and Susan Littin won best in show at the 11th Anniversary of the Misselwood Concours d’Elegance.
A little history about the car. Following the disqualification of the Rolls-Royce driven by James Radley in the 1912 Austrian Alpine Trials, Rolls-Royce modified the 1913 cars and entered four cars with Radley finishing first in this car. In 1914 Radley entered the Alpine Trial with a Silver Ghost built specially for the event. He won the 1914 event outright beating the factory team and earning the nickname “Alpine Eagle”.
Afterwards, Rolls-Royce used the car for publicity. Due to the financial threats imposed by WW1 the body was removed and the chassis was sent to Brewster in New York in 1915 for new coachwork. It was rebodied by Brewster in the 1920’s. In the 1940’s it was converted into a farm truck/tractor. It was found in 1999, still on the farm, in poor condition. It was then restored back to the 1914 Alpine Trail configuration.

The show takes place on the third full weekend in July each year.
