Bellator 215 MMA
Mohegan Sun Arena
February 15, 2019
Mohegan Sun hosted the Bellator MMA fights for a packed audience in the Arena. The night began with eight fights under the Preliminary Card followed by 5 highly anticipated fights on the Main Card.
The shock of the evening was the almost immediate ending of the most anticipated fight on the Main Card when the fight between Matt Mitrione and Sergei Kharitonov at Bellator 215 ended in 15 seconds when Mitrione delivered a kick to Kharitonov’s groin that sent him almost straight to the floor. He never rose from that position during the 5 minute delay and was taken out of the ring on a board.
The news today on Kharitonov’s condition is that he was taken to a local hospital and released only to return this morning with ongoing pain.
Another suprise was John Douma’s win over Mike Kimbel. This was Kimbels first professional loss and many predicted he would win this fight. Just the opposite happened with Douma delivering one of the quickest knockouts in Bellator history.
Prior to the Main Card the Preliminary Card lineup treated fans to back to back excitement as the knockouts were flying. Don’t ever underestimate the tenacity of the women of the MMA as they showed the audience some of the most exciting fighting of the night with two knockouts. Lindsey VanZandt and Amanda Bell both showed excellence in their abilities to power through for wins.
If you have never attended a Bellator MMA fight and you like Mixed Martial Arts you should take in one of their events at Mohegan Sun.
Bellator fighting will continue on Saturday at Mohegan Sun with the Bellator 216.
