Come join in the fun this weekend as 10 world renound Sand Sculpture Artists compete and awe visitors with scupltures they have been diligently creating this week. Each artist hoping his or her sculpture will win a cash prize offered to the choosen winners. This year’s event will be held May 30 – June 1 at Ninigret Park in Charlestown, RI
Attendees will be able to watch the artists at work as they complete each of their sculptures throughout the weekend before the final awards are given for best sculpture on Sunday June 1st. The scuptures will be judged by contest judges as well as an award for people’s choice.
Each attendee is given a colored bean when they get their ticket and enter the grounds for the event. They then during can place the bean for their choice as best sculpture in a box beside each sculpture. All beans will be tallied on Sunday when voting closes. The sculpture with the greatest number of beans will be the people’s choice winner.
There will also be plenty of things to enjoy during the event in addition to the sculptures. There will be live music, adult drinks for those of age and plenty of childrens events like learning to make their own sand sculptures and other activities. Vendors of various crafts will be on hand showing their wares.
In addition to Atlantis RIsing event Ninigret Park also has Erik Rock and Greta Granite, the first two South County Trolls by Thomas Dambo in the park for those who have not yet seen them.
