Heart has absolute staying power and have many of their songs still widely played on radio stations around the world. They are a cross generational band for sure. I was seated next to a 28 year old who was excited to see them in concert. She said she was a huge fan. Right in front of me were some who looked to be in their 60’s and they were having just as much fun and knew the words to all the songs.

The lead into the show was a video with photos of important moments from each of the years since 1973 when Ann and Nancy and Ann began the band Heart. That was interesting and a good look back at how much has happened in those years.
Chris Cain, the bands tour photographer, came out and explained to those who would wonder but did not know that Ann Wilson would be performing from a wheelchair as she had broken three bones in her left elbow in a fall, but that all was good and she would be there and man was she. Staying seated did not stop her powerhouse voice from hitting every chord and note.
They perfomed most of their best known hits with Nancy Wilson on vocals, Ann Wilson acoustic guitar and vocals, Ryan Wariner on guitar, Ryan Waters on guitar, Paul Moak on guitar, mandolin and banjo. Tony Lucido was on bass and Sean T Lane on drums.

Nancy was energetic and floated around the stage playing and singing. Her voice and Ann’s meshed perfectly. The entire band came to front stage for an acoustic sit down performance for “Dreamboat Annie” and a cover of Led Zepplin’s “Going to California,” There were cheers and ovations enough to go around for everyone as the band gave a strong performace on every song. They are proof that they are still the strong and dynamic sisters who started trailblazing their path decades ago with a mix of strong driving metal music and beautiful touching love songs and acoustic melodies.
Heart did a non walkoff encore of “Sand,” “The Ocean” and finishing off the concert with one of their most popular hits “Barracuda.”

It was a fantastic concert and the entire band did a wonderful job of keeping the house rocking. The only drawback to the entire concert is that at most venues these days and at other concerts I have seen at the Foxwoods Premier Theater the Trons on each side of the stage up on the walls were showing the band and this time they were not. It’s too bad because being a rock band as soon as the first notes of Magic Man began the crowd jumped to their feet and with the exception of a few songs stayed standing and dancing. Granted this is expected at a concert so the Trons give the audience blocked by those standing and left peering between backs and heads a good view of what is going on on stage. Then everyone can enjoy the music and seeing the band. I was sad to see that for some reason they were not on for this concert. All the photos were taken with a cell phone.
