REO Speedwagon
Xfinity Theater, Hartford CT
August 3, 2024

REO Speedwagon was the second band of the trilogy playing at the Xifnity Theater. After the Yacht Rock Revue got the crowd warmed up and ready for a night of great music REO took the stage to an enthusiastic welcome and a cheering crowd.

Kevin Cronin launched right into “Don’t Let Him Go,” one of their many timeless classic songs. They then followed it with “Take It On The Run” and the crowd was on their feet. It seems if you go to a REO Speedwagon it is accepted that you already know the words to every song by heart. Everyone I saw did and didn’t hesitate to sing along hopefully loudly enough for the band to hear them.

The entire set was fast, fun and nothing less than a great time bonding thousands of people with a common link of a to REO Speedwagon. These songs hold different meanings to different people but all were happy to raise their hands and voices.

Although the band has changed members over the years due to various reasons it still keeps the same upbeat and relevant sound. Kevin Cronin is a mainstay and is the glue that holds it all together through the decades.

I don’t see any signs of REO Speedwagon slowing down and they are as popular now as I have ever seen them. Many of their songs are featured in movies and shows.

Kevin Cronin – Guitar
Matt Bissonette – Bass
Bryan Hitt – Drums
Dave Amato – Guitar

If you haven’t ever had a chance to take in a REO Speedwagon concert do and you’ll be glad you did. The whole band hasn’t missed a beat and still gives a great show and I think will for some time to come.
