Infinity Hall, “Live for Live” Tour
Hartford, CT
September 30, 2022.
ANA Popovic put on another great performance at the Infinity Hall in Hartford, CT on Friday September 30th, 2022. An over 20-year veteran of live performances she brings all of her musical expertise and showmanship to each show I’ve seen. This night was no different as her and the band pulled out the stops and rocked the crowd for an evening of fantastic music.
Popović was born in 1976 in Belgrade and with her father being a musician she was destined to be in the music industry. She picked up a guitar at the tender age of 15 and hasn’t stopped since. She has been nominated and won numerous awards for her blues playing in the past couple of decades, all well deserved. Having begun her career in Europe she moved to the United States to gather more opportunities. Though she calls the USA home her and the band frequently tour Europe each year to enthusiastic crowds. Her extensive tour schedules each year shows just how much she enjoys performing before a live crowd.
Popovic uses the horn section more in this concert then she has in past shows I’ve seen. Other tunes were more directly arranged to feature a particular instrument like the bass during “Train” or horns and drums on “New Coat of Paint”.
The show with has a more funk and less of a blues feel as well as shown in “Buthel Bop” song off the “Like It On Top” album that was released in 2018. Popovic is very versatile in her ability to transition into a variety of genres of music during the same concert while still sticking to her blues roots. Her and the band seamlessly go from blues to rock to a funky beat in their songs and back to the blues.
Popovic showed off her slide work with the song “Tribe” She can work a guitar with the best of them and her awards and accolades prove that fact.
With a full concert schedule through the end of 2022 and into next year there should be a venue to see her live nearby. As always live is the way to view any artist and get the best experience. Though they come through well over a speaker nothing compares to the feel of actually being there in person for the performance.
If you have never seen ANA Popovic perform I recommend that you do. Her and the band are a treat for an evening out and you won’t be disappointed with her fantastic live show.
