The 2019 Barrett-Jackson wrapped up the Northeast event at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. This year the 4th now in their Northeast Mohegan venue proved to be a successful 4 days of action packed auctions and plenty of other diversions for guests to enjoy.
Starting on Wednesday there was a free to the public day which provided the opportunity to view many of the cars going up on the auction block Thursday through Saturday. The public could also enjoy rides at the Ford Hot Laps and Dodge Thrill Rides on an expansive 110,000-square-foot track. The track was hot and loud with cars drifting through the curves with squealing tires and rumbling engines. The crowd was drawn to the sound all week and into the weekend.
Auctions started on Thursday and went full speed all the way until 8pm on Saturday when the final car crossed the stage to complete the 545 car and truck docket. There were offerings to suit most any taste in autos, trucks, motorcycles and automobilia.
The convention center was a buzz of activity with vendors and the big 3 auto companies showing off their wares. There were also some of the over 500 vehicles up for sale on display there along with pontoon boats, massage chairs and artwork. Chris Craft even had a display with 2 of their most modern boats for viewing and a tour.
Always an event that promotes various charities this year was no exception as Craig Jackson included an auction and sale of the Last-Built 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (Lot #3001) sold for the Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers foundation for $2.7m and was purchased by Dan Snyder of Dan Snyder Motorsports.
The third and final charity vehicle of the auction was sold to help NS2 Serves, which helps veterans by providing IT training and employment assistance, at no cost to them. The stunning custom 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon – designed by Tommy Pike Customs in partnership with ARIES and Pennzoil – brought the gavel down on a $85,000 winning bid. More than $2.8 million was raised through the sale of three charity vehicles.
Our favorite vendor for this event is the talented Jamie Kelly. This artist takes bits and pieces of motors, transmissions and various other metal car parts and welds them into fascinating creatures and objects. His imagination runs the gamut from pit bull, doberman pinscher or french bulldogs on the animal spectrum to little piston men climbing chains up the shelving to machine guns. He has great miniature recreations of the Vegas Rat Rod’s Welder Up garage’s D-Rod signed by the owner Steve Darnell.
Kelly said he got into welding at the age of 15 and now spends almost all of his free time keeping up with the demand for his creations. He sells at shows like Barrett-Jackson as well as through Etsy and Instagram.

The Automobilia Auction also had a banner Super Saturday, with the last of nearly 500 authentic pieces of the past taking their turn on the block. Top seller of the day – and the auction – was a Chevrolet-Oldsmobile neon sign from the 1950s, going to its new home for $23,000. A pair of visible gas pumps also caught the attraction of bidders, as did two beautifully restored “mini-cars” – a 1956 Corvette went for 15,000 with incredible detail and a hand-built “Speed Racer” prototype.
